A portrait of King’s Cross for the Google hoardings at King’s Cross Station.
King’s Cross is fantastic for people watching! From tourists rushing with luggage, to locals sitting back with a cup of coffee - people are everywhere. I also drew on an archive of interviews with people who lived and worked in King’s Cross and included a selection within the piece.
My concept was to create a piece that felt like many stories captured in one illustration. Including many of the iconic places within King’s Cross, the station, the library and river - alongside smaller but no less important spaces such as community gardens, market stalls and boats. The piece captures the many stories, spaces and characters that King’s Cross is brimming with.
